Episode 70 - Easkey Britton - Ebb and Flow
“ I see our relationship with grief as closely related with ebb, grief itself is a withdrawing inward, feeling of emptiness, surrendering to the murkiness, sinking into what might as the abysal depths of the Ocean, to be able to feel the fullness of our pain a true measure of our love and loss. Like grief ebb is not a state that is held in high regard or honoured much is our modern society of hyper productivity and over stimulation. In nature and natural cycles, the ebb is as essential as the flow, it should not be mistaken for insulation, cutting yourselves off or stagnation, which is what happened when we block and suppress emotions. Stagnent water has lots is vitality and life force, has become full of impurities where as still water is pure and calm and appearing to be motionless because still waters run deep”
Easkey Britton is a big wave surfer, scientist, social ecologist, and writer. She has dedicated her life to communing with the wild waters of the west coast of Ireland, where she lives, and has become fully entangled in the deep exploration of all their teachings. Easkey embodies her connection with waters in many ways and flows between pioneering big wave surfs, advocating ocean access for women, enquiring into the healing potential of water connection and blue health, and interlacing our modern cultures with ancient knowledge and practices for rekindling our relationships with wild waters.
Dan invites Easkey to revisit us on the Spaceship Earth Podcast; to celebrate her new book: Ebb and Flow: How to Connect with the Patterns and Power of Water.
The conversation wanders through elements of the book: Exploration on our need to trust other ways of knowing, especially the intelligence between beings and water.

Water mentors and river guardianship, creating new relations with wild waters.
Letting go of polarisation and binaries, embracing complexity.
Playing with the idea of mystery in the unfolding of a changing world.
