Episode 54 - Stories for Life - What if stories are technologies for beautiful change?

This episode explores the role of stories and narrative as a technology for foundational economic system change.

The converging crises we face are symptoms of a shared root cause: economic designs based on an outdated and harmful narrative – that we are separate from nature and separate from each other. If we are going to salvage and regenerate what is left of our living earth and avoid further societal breakdown, we need to radically transform our economy, which means changing that narrative.

Stories for Life ( Stories.life) is a project Dan co-authored in 2019/2020 as part of a collaboration with Green Economy Coalition and Wellbeing Economy Alliance, which explores the role of stories and narrative in this shift and the invitation to creative cultures and story tellers everywhere to get involved.

This podcast features talks from a range of change makers from a live gathering in June this year to share this work.

Hear from Stories for Life co-writers Dan Burgess and Paddy Loughman, Ella Saltmarshe from The Longtime Academy (who features in the intro), Immy Kaur from Civic Square, Carlota Sanz from Donut Economics Action Lab, Andres Roberts from the Bio-Leadership project and Kumi Naidoo former Exec Director of both Greenpeace International and Amnesty International.

Collectively they are working to create new stories of an economy that serves life, through creative culture, arts, activism, new economic design, leadership, community action and more.

This was edited and ready for publishing in August, but hey life happened.
